Provider-one.net Customer Support

We are in the process of upgrading memory on all virtual servers from 8GB to 64GB.  This is the first of the scheduled upgrades as we go through all virtual servers 1-15.
This will effect:

Virtual Server: ns1
Virtual Server: emaildefence1
The upgrade should take about 30 mins to complete.

Today we have introduced a new secondary DNS Server (nameserver).  The new nameserver (ns2.thex.uk.provider-one.net) is the second deployment of 4 new primary and secondary name servers to accommodate the growth in the number of domain names we maintain on behalf of our customers.  The remaining name servers will be deployed gradually over the next two/three weeks.

We have now completed the upgrade to our central backup server.  The upgrade included the addition of a battery backup for the array controller card and addition to 1TB hard disk drive to the array.   This upgrade will provide additional backup capacity and will enable faster restoration of data rather than retrieval from tape.

We are moving towards a new model of centralised outbound MX servers to manage all outbound e-mail in a scalable and controllable manor. By centralising out bound e-mail service we can prevent spam based e-mail leaving our network.
To increase the protection for our customers the following policy is now in effect.
